Kulala Desert Lodge, Soussusvlei

Set against the beautiful Kulala Wilderness Reserve in Namibia, and surrounded by dramatic mountain valley views, the Kulala Desert Lodge attracts a wide variety of game, many of which gather daily at the Lodge’s nearby watering hole.

The photographs will not prepare you for the visual extravaganza that is the world’s oldest desert. This is where the wind and millions of years have shaped red sand into megalithic dunes, and then carved them into gigantic geometric contours and repeating patterns. Don’t resist the temptation to take a hot air balloon flight!

It’s also a place where you can find wildlife that has evolved to suit the extreme habitat. Springbok, gemsbok, ostrich and jackal are regulars at the Lodge’s waterhole, while bat-eared foxes, the occasional aardwolf, hyena, porcupine and an impressive array of rodents and reptiles all thrive here too.
