House in the Wild, Masai Mara

Get off the beaten track at this totally private, family-owned-and-operated lodge on the banks of the Mara River.

The aptly-named House in the Wild is tucked away on a 1,000-acre private estate within the Enonkishu Conservancy, just outside the Masai Mara. Hosted by the Wood family and their friendly team of local staff, you’ll be able to fill your days with a plethora of activities ranging from nature walks and game drives to fishing in the Mara River, scenic sundowners and visits to local Maasai villages. The entire property is completely fenced, and therefore safe for walking, running, biking and horse riding.

Guests are also afforded an insight into day-to-day life on a traditional Kenyan cattle farm, from milking the cows to beekeeping and tree planting. The main house and six cottages are nestled amid the beautiful grounds, alongside a large curved swimming pool with a thatch gazebo and bar. Of the cottages, two are family suites with ensuite bathrooms, a dining area and lounge. Interiors are light and comfortable throughout, with lovely river views.
