On arrival in Kigali, you will receive a safari briefing at the Kigali Serena Hotel where you will spend your first night. Ideally located on one of the city’s most charming boulevards, the five-star Kigali Serena Hotel is built around a polished granite atrium, which showcases the very best of Rwandese cultural art.
Stay: One night at Kigali Serena Hotel
Volcanoes National Park
This morning you will depart for Volcanoes National Park. The journey north, weaving through beautiful terraced hillsides, culminates at the base of the awe-inspiring Virunga volcanoes. Here you will be staying at Virunga Lodge, a luxury eco-lodge whose ridge-top location affords guests unrivalled views of the mist-shrouded volcanoes and sparkling twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera.
It’s an early start the next morning for your gorilla trekking expedition. Arriving at the park’s gates, you’ll be split into groups before setting off in search of your mountain gorilla family alongside a highly-trained team of guides, trackers and rangers. Navigating the thick bamboo forest on the slopes of the Virungas can be demanding, but getting to spend a full hour in the company of these gentle apes is ample reward.
During your stay you’ll also have time for golden monkey tracking – an equally fascinating experience with these playful, inquisitive species – as well as visits to the Dian Fossey memorial.
Stay: Three nights in a Standard Double room at Virunga Lodge
Today you will be transferred back to Kigali Airport for your international flight back to London.

What was particularly impressive was the way in which Catherine listened to what we like to do and combined all of this in a destination we would not have considered - a truly terrific effort.
