A short boat ride will bring you to Robben Island, home to the haunting prison cell where iconic leader Nelson Mandela spent 27 years hard labour. You can then enjoy horizon-wide views over the “Mother City” with a trip up Table Mountain in a cable car, before taking in the Castle of Good Hope and the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Madikwe Game Reserve
On the fifth day you will fly from Cape Town to Johannesburg, from where you will drive to the Madikwe Game Reserve. Located on the edge of the Kalahari Desert, this is one of South Africa’s prime wildlife viewing destinations and offers an authentic safari experience.
In addition to an impressive wild dog population, the reserve is packed with an interesting variety of bird and game species. Etosha lions, elephant bulls and leopards can all be found here, as well as more unique creatures such as springbok, gemsbok and tsessebe.
You will be staying at Jaci’s Safari Lodge, conveniently located on the edge of the Marico River, where you will enjoy warm hospitality on top of day and night game drives, walking safaris and river walks through the reserve’s 75,000-hectare wilderness.
