London - Dar es Salaam - Selous
Your flight from London lands you in Dar es Salaam, where you’ll connect with a local flight to the Selous Game Reserve. You’ll spend the next four nights in a luxurious safari tent on a raised wooden platform overlooking the surrounding bush and a beautiful lake – part of the mighty Rufiji River System.
You’ll be able to explore the system – and see the animals that frequent its banks in large numbers – on a series of boat safaris that take you along hidden waterways and tributaries. Game drives aboard purpose-built 4×4 vehicles will take you to see prides of lion and the animals they’re hunting.
Walking safaris in the early morning will give you an intimate sense of being part of the African bush whilst – if you’re feeling really adventurous – fly camping deep in the bush will give you the sensation of being one of the early African big game hunters.
Stay: Four nights at Siwandu.
A flight from local airstrip to local airstrip takes you to another remote area that is rich in wildlife; the perfect place to see lions prowling around their natural habitat. You’ll be camping in one of the most game-rich and visitor-poor wildlife regions of Tanzania, with easy access to Ruaha National Park.
Your authentic, under-canvas safari experience is enhanced by the animals you’ll see on a selection of night drives, daytime safaris, bush walks and birdwatching expeditions. Prides of lion, and lone cheetah stalk through the bush. Great families of elephant, buffalo and sable amble across the landscape. Herds of kudu and antelope graze watchfully as hyena slowly circle in the middle distance. This is real Africa.
Stay: Four nights at Kwihala Safari Camp.
