Adelaide – Kangaroo Island
Fly out of Adelaide in the morning for a hop over to Kangaroo Island, ready for your introduction to life on the island. Before you venture over to Lathami Conservation Park for a bush trek through the outback with an expert guide, you’ll take a stroll along a track fringed with great eucalyptus trees and koalas dozing in the branches above. Lunch – fresh seafood complemented by fine wine – is served in an exclusive bush setting before you set off again; this time to Seal Bay Conservation Park for a walk along a glorious sandy beach – populated by Australian sea lions.
Stay: One night in a choice of luxurious accommodation.
Flinders Chase National Park
Your second day on the island and it’s time to visit the visually stunning Flinders Chase National Park. At Rocky River you’ll be presented with outrageously beautiful scenery as well as an impressive visitor centre – just the place to learn about the history, the wildlife, the geology and the formation of the park. Then you’re ready to explore and really appreciate what you’re seeing; the aptly named Remarkable Rocks, for example, giant natural sculptures thrusting their way out of a cliff top. You’ll also discover the unspoiled bush of the island and visit the extensive fur seal colony at Cape du Couedic.
In the evening you’ll return to Kingscote Airport for your flight back to the mainland, arriving in Adelaide at about 19:00. But it’s very easy to fall under the spell of Kangaroo Island, so you may find you want to stay an extra night. Just ask for details when you plan your itinerary.
