Bandhavgarh National Park

Originally a private hunting reserve of the Maharajas of Rewa, today Bandhavgarh’s lush forests and wetlands support one of the highest tiger densities in the country.

Nestled within acres of natural forest in Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh was designated a national park in the 1960s. It remains one of the top tiger viewing destinations in India, with daytime sightings from open-topped jeeps all but guaranteed. The park is overlooked by the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort (from which it gets its name), a structure believed to date back thousands of years and home to several statues depicting Lord Vishnu.

Bengal tigers are Bandhavgarh’s claim to fame, but there’s so much more this enchanting wilderness has to offer. Game drives and elephant safaris with expert naturalists will bring you encounters with an array of other rare and interesting species such as leopards, sloth bears, wild boar, jaguars, hyenas, sambar and jackal. As well as dozens of butterflies and more than 250 species of bird.

By including Bandhavgarh in your luxury, tailor-made vacation to India, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of habitats, from forested valleys and swampy marshes to open meadows and rocky hills – the result of which is a flourishing biodiversity.
