Las Torres, Torres del Paine

One of the few hotels built within the Torres del Paine National Park, Las Torres has an enviable position, close to the mountains and at the start of many trailheads.

A former cattle ranch and dating back to the late 1970s, Las Torres is now one of just a handful of hotels within the confines of Torres del Paine National Park. Sitting close to the 'Base of the Towers' (one of the most impressive hikes in the park!), guests have direct access to a number of excellent trails, which make it an ideal place to stay for hikers and gives the hotel a constant buzz with walkers coming and going.

Throughout the hotel's 8,000 acre grounds, you can see signs of Las Torres' past, including old pieces of farming equipment and baqueanos (Patagonian cowboys) caring for the horses in the on-site stables. Guests are invited to explore the extensive grounds and the wider area on horse back or on foot and can return to the hotel for a Cabernet Sauvignon in the glass-roof bar or a traditional Patagonian asado (barbecue) in the gardens.

Rooms are unpretentious and have been designed and decorated in a warm and cosy style, using textiles and furniture made in the region. If you decide to upgrade to a suite you're also greeted to views of the Paine Massif mountain range.

Las Torres offer a variety of half-day and full-day activities, when staying on one of their all-inclusive programs and guests can explore some of the most famous areas of the park, including the French Valley, Grey Lake and a full day hike to the Base of the Towers. Riding, hiking, boat trips and even climbing are all possible from Las Torres. All activities take place in groups and for full day excursions, a packed lunch is provided.

After a day exploring the trails you may want to relax and the Pionera Bar is the perfect place to do this over a Calafate Sour (a local cocktail made using Calafate berries from the region). Then why not enjoy a delicious dinner at the Coirón Restaurant, which specialises in 'flavours from the end of the world'.

Being at the start of many of the trailheads means it is often busier than the hotels outside the park, but it's a small price to pay to be right in the heart of Torres del Paine.

Other itineraries in Chile

  • We have travelled with TUTC six times, the most recent was to New Zealand last year. The trip was very well organised as usual, with excellent accommodation and a wide variety of experiences. We had booked to go to Australia with them this year but due to Covid this was cancelled, Ultimate handled the situation very professionally and promptly refunded the whole of our deposit without any quibble.
