ABAI JUNGLE LODGE, KINABATANGAN RIVER

ENCOUNTERS WITH THE REGION’S RARE & EXOTIC WILDLIFE

Set deep within Sabah’s tangled rainforest on the banks of the Kinabatangan River, the rustic Abai Jungle Lodge offers incredible encounters with the region’s rare and exotic wildlife.

Far removed from any other lodge, Abai Jungle Lodge feels wonderfully remote whilst still being easily accessible by boat. Raised above the jungle floor on stilts, the property’s chalets are all linked together by a series of wooden boardwalks. Accommodation throughout is clean and simple, with ensuite bathrooms, biodegradable toiletries, polished wooden floors and a natural, muted decor. The restaurant has a beautiful riverine setting where you can enjoy Bornean delicacies whilst looking out over the Kinabatangan River.

Thanks to its location on this iconic waterway, guests of Abai Jungle Lodge are in an excellent position from which to encounter the region’s famous endemic wildlife. From guided night walks to enchanting river safaris, you have every opportunity to see wild proboscis monkeys, orangutans, pygmy elephants, silvery langurs and long-tailed macaques. Head to the birdwatching towers for a chance to spot the area’s eight species of hornbill.
