Day 1-3

London – Buenos Aires

London – Buenos Aires

Your overnight flight lands you in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires. You’ll be met and taken to your boutique hotel in the elegant Recoleta neighbourhood, where you’ll find yourself close to the Recoleta Cemetery – resting place of Eva Peron – and the National Museum of Fine Arts.

A fascinating tour led by a private guide will reveal even more of the city’s highlights, from the cobbled streets and colonial splendour of San Telmo – the old quarter of the city – to the pretty district of La Boca, the Cathedral and Plaza de Mayo – home of the striking Casa Rosada (Government House).

Stay: Two nights in an executive room at the Serena Hotel – bed & breakfast

Day 4-5

Villa La Angostura

Villa La Angostura

Today you will catch a flight to Bariloche and pick up your hire car. From there you will drive to Villa la Angostura, a pretty resort town set amidst the photogenic lakes, forests and Andean mountains of the Nahuel Huapi National Park in the Argentine Lake District. The perfect destination for those keen on trekking and mountain biking through jaw-dropping landscapes, sailing across glistening glacial lakes, horseback riding and skiing.

Stay: Two nights in a Lake Superior room at Posada La Escondida – bed & breakfast

Day 6-7

San Martin de los Andes

San Martin de los Andes

Continuing your exploration of Patagonia, you will now drive to San Martin de los Andes in the northwest of the region. You’ll be staying in an intimate hotel close to the shimmering waters of Lake Lacar, the perfect base from which to immerse yourself in the area. In the summer you’ll find fantastic opportunities for trout fishing – famous in Argentina – as well as hiking, white-water rafting and horseback riding, whilst skiing becomes the main activity in the colder months.

Stay: Two nights in a superior suite at La Casa de Eugenia – bed & breakfast

Day 8

Today you will make the drive back to Bariloche, the largest town in the northern Lake District, where you will drop off your hire car. You’ll check into a renowned art hotel, beautifully set on the edge of the vast Lago Nahuel Huapi and featuring hundreds of paintings and sculptures by famous artists. The town has a distinctly “alpine” feel, dotted with Swiss-style wooden chalets, fondue restaurants and chocolate shops.

Stay: One night in a nahuel studio room at El Casco Hotel – bed & breakfast

Day 9-10

El Calafate

El Calafate

On day nine you will fly to El Calafate, best known as the gateway to the sensational 700,000 hectare Los Glaciares National Park. You will enjoy a private excursion to the mighty Perito Moreno Glacier, which is unique in that it is advancing rather than retreating. Every now and then a block of ice will break off from the glacier and come crashing dramatically into the water below.

You’ll also have time to explore the region’s exceptionally blue lakes and the immense Patagonian Ice Cap, which has been dubbed the “third pole” due to its mighty size. It feeds the Perito Moreno Glacier as well as many more major glaciers. Trekking expeditions, fishing and mountain biking can all be arranged.

Stay: Two nights in a concept lake view room at the Esplendor El Calafate – bed & breakfast

Day 11-13

El Chaltén

El Chaltén

Today you will be transferred to El Chaltén, approximately three hours’ drive from El Calafate. Itself a small village within Los Glaciares National Park, El Chaltén is considered the hiking capital of Argentina. It offers outstanding trails in the surrounding area leading to the peaks of Cerro Torre, Mount Fitz Roy and the Laguna de los Tres lookout point, amongst others. During your stay you will enjoy a full day mini-trekking alongside an experienced, private guide, allowing you to make the most of the exquisite surroundings.

Stay: Three nights in a standard room at Destino Sur Hotel – bed & breakfast

Day 14

Buenos Aires

Today you will be transferred to El Calafate Airport where you will board a flight back to Buenos Aires, spending one final night in this captivating city.

Stay: One night in an executive room at the Serena Hotel – bed & breakfast
