Hidden behind wrought-iron gates, the Zero George draws on Charleston’s European influences and rich history to create a wonderful harmony between the old and new. Soaring ceilings, original period millwork, fine linens, heart pine floors and a sophisticated palette of creams, browns and greys create an understated yet undeniably luxurious feel. Centred around a private garden courtyard, the 16 guestrooms are split between three impeccably resorted historic residences and two brick carriage houses dating back to 1804.

The hotel itself is named after its actual address – the oak-shaded George Street in Charleston’s historic Ansonborough neighbourhood. From here, you can walk to nearby King Street or Waterfront Park, or choose to explore the area’s shady lanes and antebellum houses on one of the hotel’s vintage bicycles. The concierge will be happy to arrange a private sunset sailing trip or beach picnic excursion. Back at the hotel, the award-winning Zero Restaurant + Bar serves up elevated American dishes that make the most of seasonal, local ingredients.
