Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Bwindi

Standing high in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, surrounded by volcanoes, plunging valleys and ancient rainforest, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp offers outstanding encounters with Uganda’s wild mountain gorillas.

One of the most remote and atmospheric camps in Africa, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp should be an integral part of your luxury, tailor-made holiday to Uganda. Ecologically sensitive yet contemporary in style, the camp comprises just 10 luxurious canvas tents deep in the heart of the forest. Each has a freestanding bathtub where you can soak tired, post-trek muscles whilst gazing out over the spectacular rainforest canopy. Delicious meals are served in the elegant dining cottage, or al fresco on your tent’s private deck.

Once-in-a-lifetime encounters with Uganda’s endangered mountain gorillas is the camp’s main draw. Located within the national park itself, you’ll find yourself mere minutes away from the starting point of your gorilla trekking excursions, and it’s not uncommon for gorilla families to visit the camp itself.

Throughout your stay, you can also enjoy exceptional birding, scenic forest walks to the Munyaga waterfall, drives through Queen Elizabeth National Park and community interactions with the local Batwa people.
