AN ENCHANTING BASE TO EXPLORE YUCATAN PENINSULA
Located close to the walled city of Campeche, Hacienda Uayamon is an enchanting base for exploring Mexico’s stunning Yucatan Peninsula.
An old cattle ranch dating back to 1700, this atmospheric hacienda has been lovingly restored to modern-day standards. Designed by Indonesian architect Jaya Ibrahim, the 12 airy villa rooms and colonial suites are wonderful sanctuaries with their high beamed ceilings and mahogany furnishings. All have plush beds to sink into, but you can also sleep Mayan style in the woven cotton hammocks hanging in each room. Select suites have additional living space and private whirlpools.
Campeche and its preserved baroque colonial buildings are just a stone’s throw away, as are the vast Mayan ruins of Edzna. You’ll also be able to enjoy romantic strolls through the candlelit gardens, and dine on regional delicacies in the refined Uayamon Restaurant – the kitchen gets most of its ingredients from the onsite gardens. Lined in dark wood and decorated in colonial furnishings, the bar is an inviting spot to mix with other guests over a glass of wine. The spectacular walled swimming pool is set in the pretty manicured grounds, whilst the spa offers traditional Mayan treatments.
