Today a haven of peace in the heart of the medina, La Maison Bleue was originally built in 1915 by famous judge and astrologer Sidi Mohammed El Abbadi.

It is still owned and managed by this prominent Fassi family, and when staying at this beautifully renovated, authentic Moorish residence, you are first and foremost their very welcome house guest. Six air-conditioned rooms - five royal suites and one junior suite - are arranged over the first and second floors. Elegantly appointed with zellij mosaic tiling, rich threaded fabrics and antique furnishings, each offers a palatial space for you to unwind in luxurious comfort.

Other features include a delightful atrium, a reading room and a rooftop terrace with views over the medina. It is also home to one of the most distinguished restaurants in Fez, where traditional Moroccan dishes are prepared from age-old family recipes. In the summer, meals are served on the hotel’s three terraces which offer enchanting views over different aspects of the medina. A body treatment or massage in the spa provides a welcome antidote to the heat and dust of the souk.

Just a 10-minute walk away lies La Maison Bleue’s sister Riad Maison Bleue, with 13 rooms and suites built around a central garden courtyard with a delightful little swimming pool which guests at the Maison Bleue are also free to use.

  • I am notoriously difficult to please as my work colleagues and family will attest but I have to say that the organisation from your team was absolutely brilliant. From guides to drivers it was faultless.
