A bit about me

The passion to visit faraway destinations started with my round the world trip in 2006. Starting in Thailand I then flew onto Australia for nine months where I travelled extensively before spending a further month in New Zealand visiting both North and South Islands. I then continued on to Fiji and took in the breathtaking Yasawa Islands before returning to the UK via California and Hawaii. Other long haul destinations I have visited include the Caribbean (Barbados, St Vincent & The Grenadines and St Lucia), Borneo, North America, Singapore and Kuala Lumpar.

I have previously worked for two specialist tour ope-rators before starting at Bridge and Wickers in September 2013. Finding a career that has enabled me to successfully use my passion, challenge and improve my expertise whilst providing a flexible, efficient friendly service has been exciting. It has also allowed me to re-visit Thailand and Australia as well as specialise in Canada as a new destination which I have now travelled to many times.

Wildlife is one of my key interests and I have been lucky enough to see bear, whale, dolphins, seal, penguin, koala and kangaroo in their wild habitats. I am looking forward to sharing and extending my knowledge and feeding my passion with future fabulous trips!

My favourite place

Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I love its laid back island-lifestyle and it really does have something to offer everyone. From rainforest to rugged beaches, wildlife and stunning scenery – you can be as active or lazy as you want!

My favourite hotel

Sonora Resort in British Colombia – pristine wilderness with superb service and exquisite cuisine.

My most memorable experience

Knight Inlet Lodge

My top tips

  • If you travel to Tofino or Ucluelet on Vancouver Island remember to take mosquito repellent. Many people think this is not needed in Canada but you are in the middle of a rainforest and will get bitten!
  • Make sure you visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane. It is the only place I have come across that you can hold a koala and get a photograph taken on a postcard to send home – you will be the envy of all your friends!
  • If visiting the Okanagan region in Canada, a visit to to ‘Dirty Laundry’ winery in Summerland is a must. Grab a deli picnic basket and enjoy lunch overlooking the beautiful vineyards and the Kettle Valley railway.
  • If you are planning a trip to Montreal and Quebec, Sacacombie Lodge in St Alexis de Monts is well worth incorporating into your itinerary for a true Canadian wilderness lodge experience.
  • Gina was again outstanding, friendly, efficient, master of her subject. Another superb job.
